Music is organised noise.........ventilation is organised draughts!

Let's face it-most older buildings leak air like sieves and when that air is expensively heated (or cooled) we are wasting money and energy. But sealing up an old building to modern standards is very difficult, so the task is to do what can be done easily and economically. Draught stripping  the front door and traditional windows is a good start. After loft insulation, draught stripping is probably the most cost effective energy saving we can make. According to the Energy Saving Trust, in a typical home 20 per cent of all heat loss is through ventilation and draughts. Heat recovery can be incorporated into ventilation systems

Poor insulation in older buildings means they are more prone to condensation and mould growth, so controlled ventilation at the source of moisture in kitchens and bathrooms is essential. Ventilation controlled by a humidistat in the bathroom is cheap and effective. Improved air tightness requires better control over ventilation for the comfort and well-being of occupants.
